On Feb 4th last yr we found our first sheds. There was little snow on the ground. This year is much different with this last storm on the 9th dropping 28 inches of snow. It looks like shed hunting this yr will be in april with our turkey scouting. How much snow is there in Ohio this yr?

From what I've seen when I was down there a couple of weeks ago were a few inches at most from Toledo all the way down past Athens Ohio. With the recent warm up I would say they likely don't have much left as up here in Mich we only have about an inch left other than the piles. It was real cold down there the beginning of the month, so hopefully that helps get those bucks to start dropping real soon!!

Thats good, no snow. If they start dropping you guys can get back in the woods. I'm going to have a little wait here in NH.

I found these sheds two gun seasons ago and I do not have the pic handy but we also found an 11 pointer dead with a nice drop tine. We found a total of 9 horns and the dead buck within 40 yard radius. In my lil hunting valley surrounded by alfal fields. I have not been shed hunting this year but soon I will go

Hey Mike, do you know how lucky you are to live were you live? My brother, my father and myself together have not found that many sheds in NH since we started looking.

Hey Mike, We got 8" of snow yesterday, so thats brings the snow cover to about 24". It was melting, we still have another month before we can start.

hey I find them on top of snow many times , so just cause there is snow isn't a reason to have to wait
plus now that there is snow, you can walk the main trails right to beds, which might lead to sheds, or , be exact hot spots to try once the snow melts

many time when they first come off they bleed some, so having snow and seeing blood can be a sign to look about that area even closer, both now and after it melts!
