This has been an unbelievable week for me. God is good. I left Concord Sunday Nov 4th at 3am. I had studied arial photos and topo maps of the area I was going for HOURS upon HOURS before the trip. I knew the place before even scouting it on foot. So I get there early, and scout and few other prospective places, then head straight in to hunt this particular area I had studied. It was a thick hill side below a ridge, and just above a creek bottom. I was setup right between two good trails. I no more get to the height that I want in my lone wolf, and hear a buck chasing a doe up on the ridge. They get gone, and I get my bow up, and hear something coming in front of me, and two bucks....one a shooter....are chasing the same doe. They take off away from me and I'm struggling to get an arrow nocked, and release ready, and the buck I first saw up on the ridge is coming from in behind me curious about the other bucks that were grunting and chasing in front of me. He strolled right down one of the trails I was sitting on, and I shot him at 15 yards. He ran up the ridge and stopped and started the tail wagging and getting wobbly legs, then he fell over!! I was tore up!! I didn't even get my back pack off!! My minimum for this hunt was 110" because the biggest before him was 105". This was my first Ohio hunt, and it was short and sweet. I had made two scouting trips in years past prior to this hunt, but never hunted Ohio until this year. All the home work paid off. Guernsey county.

So after all this happened in Ohio, I had the rest of the week to hunt back home. I headed back to some prime land we have in Orange Co. NC, to an area my dad had an encounter with a BIG 8 back in Oct. Left Ohio at 6:30am on Tues Nov. 6th and was in the stand by 3pm. Saw a few does, and decided to move my climber to a different tree in the same area and leave it over night for the morning hunt. Got in the before daylight, and had seen a small buck working through the funnel I was hunting. If was a row of hardwoods between two thickets that opened up into a creek bottom. Caught him cruising out of the funnel at 9:15. He passed through a hole that I didn't range, but had ranged a few trees close by so I knew he was a tad over 30 yards. Mouth grunted to stop him, and aimed a little high with my 30 yard pin, and drilled him. He ran off out of sight and stopped, then I heard the crashing. He ran 20 yards and piled up. I LOST IT after that.
He grosses between 140-141". With about 5" of deductions. My first P & Y baby! And he came from my home state of NC!!!
