Here is a great place to post up your pictures of the sheds and dead heads you find this winter/spring. Feel free to make your own posts as well but this will be a great way to show all what BowhuntingOhio.com members have found throughout the season.

Hate to see so many deadheads for you ohiobuckhunter! Are all those in the same general area or spread out? Something to find that shoulder blade with the broadhead in it like that!!

All the dead heads came from diffrent properties. Some of the properties I don't have permission to hunt on but the land owners let me go shed hunting. Most of the places I shed hunt are very random I will be driving down the road see a property that looks like a good place to shed hunt and I will go knock on the door and ask. It is alot easier to get permission to shed hunt than hunting. I always keep a shed in my truck to show land owners what I am looking for you would be surprised how many people don't realize deer shed there antlers in the winter. I have got permision to hunt from land owners threw shed hunting also once they see my passion for it or see I involve my family in it.

I'm just guessing by the lack of others posting any other shed finds we are not having the shed contest. Why isn't anyone else posting any sheds am I the only on shed hunting this season. Or have we just lost all our members. I'm not seeing many post on here at all lately what's the deal with that? Where is everyone?

I am the same way ohiobuckhunter, not sure what's going on other than we occasionally hit slow spots. Usually have plenty of people interested in posting up their sheds and sure hoped to get the contest underway but it seems like a lost cause. Oh well, sure enjoy seeing your pics....please keep 'em coming!!

I hear you! We spent all weekend long two weeks ago looking, covered a lot of ground with my dog and not a single one. Either the bucks are still holding, weren't on the property when they lost them or aliens came down and took them all!!!
I havent been able to get out very much but I have found 14 so far. Hopefully Ill be able to do some looking this weekend.
Here are a few pics....

The wife kids and I went out this morning shed hunting and found a nice8 point dead head from last year the tree rats had it chewed up preety good. I went back out alone this afternoon and found 3 sheds and another dead head the tree rats had all of them chewed up as well one of the sheds I think was from a few years ago all that was left was part of the main beam.

Had an awsome day of shed hunting my first find was a broken off crab claw off a bucks main beam the second was a 7 point dead head. The third was a matching set from a 10 point the fourth was a 4 point side the fifth another 4 point side and the last find was the best was a dead head main frame 8 point with 4 nontypical points . I havnt scored him yet my guess is in the 170's once I get the messurments I will post them. I found all of theses in 45 minutes in a 1 acre area of a 10 acre over grown field. I can't wait to search the rest of this field and the woods around it.6980

I am begining to think the bucks toss them into the overflowing creeks and rivers around here lol. I haven't put in a ton of time but I should have found a lot more then this by now lol. The tree rats and chipmunks don't help matters any either.

My best advice is walk walk some more and walk even more. I find most of my sheds in overgrown fields and thick bedding areas that is close to a good winter food source. I also find a lot of them on the trails from the bedding to the food. Here are a few tips to help you out look for them at 3-4 feet from your feet not at a distance it is hard to stay focused when you are starring straight at the ground for hours at a time but to be successful at finding sheds you have to tain yourself to do it. Also don't try to look for the whole antler try focusing on looking for the curve of the main beam or the tips of the times oh and did I mention walk walk and walk some more
Here`s a cool one my buddy found in a deep creek bottom.

A friend, and I use the word "friend" lightly, was nice enough to leave this on my ladder stand for me to find one morning. He had found it while looking for a deer that he swore he had double lunged. No blood, no deer, but a decent dead head for the effort.
